THE HISTORICAL CENTRE OF TRAPANI
The medieval areas of the city can be found on the
thin peninsula that juts out into the sea.
On the extreme point of the peninsula is the "Quartiere
Palazzo" created by the Spanish in the 13th century and rebuilt on baroque
times.
In the most ancient area we can still see today
Arab style narrow cobbled streets which originally were surrounded by
the city wall.
Places of interest include the "Chiesa del Purgatorio",
the Fardelliana Library, "Palazzo Giudecca" and "Palazzo Cavarretta".
The Via Garbaldi is pedestrianised, lively during
the evening, and is perfect for shopping and to visit the many clubs,
bars, pubs and art exhibitions including the frequent exhibitions held
on the S.Domenico Steps.
