THE "MISTERI" PROCESSION

Every Good Friday in Trapani, the "Misteri" procession takes place. This procession has 400 year old Spanish origins.

The Misteri are 20 large sculptures made out of cloth wood by Trapanese artisans in the 17th and 18th centuries. They depict the passion and death of Christ.

On the day of the procession, they are carried through Trapani on wooden bases.

Every year this event draws crowds not only of locals, but also of tourists and spectators from all over the world.
